I've had four over the years and have one now.

I don't know about the dirt problem as that has never been an issue.

What I do know and the reason I seem to always have one, is that they are VERY accurate and not very ammo sensitive.

The pump action also allows the use of all sorts of ammo, such as CB caps, .22 shorts and any other kind or brand of ammo made for the .22.

I have no idea why they are so much less ammo sensitive than almost all other .22s.

They are expensive new but usually cheap used. My current one cost me $80.
