I have the ultra covert. The model is about three to four years old now. Todd-OR is correct, in that Kimbers need a break in. Read your owner's manual carefully about break in.

I had a few issues, but the only thing that needed fixing was a new slide release lever. My gun was experiencing premature slide lock, with rounds still in the magazine. At first I thought it was maybe my thumb resting on the slide release lever. but I discovered that bullet heads were knicking the slide stop portion in the breach. Kimber sent me a "modified slide stop." Problem solved. This was about three years ago when the Covert models were new. It has been a great gun every since.
