Yeah, I'm sure that's Ivan's story. The department brass will close ranks and make sure Ivan is protected, and the public will never know the REAL TRUTH.

Firearms training for police dogs is woefully inadequate, and I am continually shocked by the apathetic and careless attitude they display about guns. I mean, have you ever seen them shoot? The average German Shepherd is lucky if he can get 3 out of 10 rounds in the 10-ring on a static range. And don't get me started on muzzle discipline. Yikes!

This is why I've had the talk with my dog. She knows that when seconds count, a police dog is minutes away. She knows that she's responsible for her own safety, and we drill with firearms on a regular basis.

It's a slow process, and I may have incurred a few injuries, but it's coming along.
