All buckshot is not created equal. I have had great success with the 12 or so deer I have killed with the 41 pellets of number 4 buckshot contained in 12 gauge 3" loads. I have never lost a deer that I shot at with it. Double ought and triple ought just do not have enough pellets to do the job.
