I would ask “who are you?”

In thinking on this I am trying to imaging what type of person would have the guts to ask what type of gun you have while knowing you were trying to conceal it without knowing you.
Possibly a knowledgeable adolescent, or “new-be” gun enthusiast? Certainly an LEO would approach you differently (a little help from our LEO’s on this)? Worst case scenario would be a knowledgeable BG accessing his risk in an area where something is about to go wrong.

In any event it is not a good situation. If possible I would remove myself from the area ASAP without looking like I was in a hurry.

Best thing however is to have your permit and to insure that you carry properly. This is absolutely an instance where “an ounce of prevention is worth more then a pound of cure”.
