Jim while the carrier barrel IS the ideal way, it isn't the only. One fellow shooter uses a Kolar - already at 9+ pounds in 12. When he added his tube set from them later on, he bought a weight equal to the weight of the sub tubes. This gets clamped onto his 12 gauge barrel so his total weight is about 10.5# - the same for either 12 alone or with a sub tube installed. He's about your size as well, AND he has an adjustable recoil system on it.

He is also a M class sporting shooter and a very good shot at everything else
