Its a case of you don't get something like lighter weight without giving up something like gun quality.

They have made the barrel painfully thin so the only thing left is the stock.

Big factor is caliber. 308 and up I think you need a more solid stock.

6.5 CM I think the light stock would be fine for hunting and for target shooting I go heavy on barrels and stocks. I have a couple of the Savage cheapo stock, no issue with them but I was building target rifles.

I do have to laugh as I hunted with a Ruger M77 at almost 9 lbs. I always told folks if the weight bothered me I could easily loose 5 lbs and beat any rifle out there.
