You sir, are correct. That's the right way to do things.

Additionally, resist the urge to take these guns to the range, even once. It's a shame to lose these pieces of history, but it's worse to be jailed because of them.

I have known of folks that have these firearms/devices and it's not worth having them around. You can't sell them legitimately, and they'll come back to bite you in the butt when you least expect it...
