In addition to this, it was among the first of the 03 Modified rifles. Steel was changed from 2340 to ANSI 4140 for the receiver. The barrel should have a date of February or March 1943 if it is original as manufactured. So many were rebuilt and some many times during their life that the only part that is original is the receiver. Providing the head space is good, it's a good action/receiver.
