The Taurus Tracker 990 was my first .22lr choice. I wanted a revolver instead of a semi-auto because of the relatively low power of a 22. I did not think a 22lr would cycle the slide of a semi-auto consistently.

Out of the box the 990 is a good looking, heavy gun. It shoots very accurately, and mine has bright orange sights which are adjustable. The first two hundred rounds or so went off without a hitch. Later the cylinder started to bind up, and the trigger was really difficult to pull back. (I didn't force it.) I did not clean it before I used it the first time.

I took it home and cleaned it very well, especially the star on the cylinder, it had what looked like tiny metal shavings on it. After a good clean and lube, it functions flawlessly.

Being a revolver, it'll shoot any .22lr ammo, from bulk to hyper velocity. This makes it great for inexpensive practice. You can look on this forum for a post which explains how to inspect a revolver before you buy one.

In my opinion, the Tracker 990 is a good buy.
