Tennifer, the metal treatment, is not being used anymore in favor of Melonite which is still a salt bath heat treatment. Salt bath heat treatment is used on high speed tool steels. I was a heat treat operator for 11+ years.
Whether one is better than the other I don't know I'm not a metallurgist. Perhaps Gaston knows.
