.45 ACP forever
Not likely will .45 auto be phased out ever. If you owned one you would know why. It is easily the most brillant combat pistol ever made. The round is also one of the most effective man stopping cartridges ever.
The last handgun found by archeologists in some distant future will be a 1911. And it will probably fire dead center after getting some oil.
