The barrel still needs to be threaded to use the QD mount. You put the mount on the barrel than attach the can to the QD. In theory, you can then easily move the can between guns if each one is equipped with a QD mount.
I say in theory because the issue of QD mounts has recently come under BATFE scrutiny and YHM has suspended sales of the mounts without a can until further notice.
