Youd have about the same money and even more of a headache doing it than you would be to just buy a bolt action 7.62x39.

I understand the point of not having 20 different calibers.... but I REALLY suggest reading up on specs to bolt action 7.62x39... its actually more complicated than you'd think.

Most of the overseas surplus ammo that is "cheap" for the x39 uses harder primers due to being designed for the AK and SKS... Sometimes bolt actions have a hard time with the ammo.

Also, there are actually different specs to chambers and ammo for the x39... A lot of american made rifles are made with a .308 diameter bore, however a lot of the surplus ammo being sold for the x39 is actually a .311 or .312 bore size, so often times they will have more issues.

The Savage model 10 FCM Scout will probably be the cheapest route.. however if you plan on shooting Euro-surplus ammo, the CZ 527 is the better choice due to the better extractor and its more heavy duty over all. Also the barrel is the proper .311 bore.
