I have fired several AR-15 but I've never owned one. I am turned off by a round that is considered much to light to humanely kill a deer. I do know that a .243 is much more powerful, flatter trajectory, less affected by cross-winds and penetrates much better than a .223.

What I don't know is whether are not there is a good reason to avoid an AR-15 or AR-10 chambered in a .243.
