If you actually started your draw when the dog was within 10 feet and he intended to attack, you would never have completed the draw, much less the shot. He must have been farther out or moving slower. But I can imagine it
seemed he was that close.
Regardless, I'm glad you came out of it alright.
I've been attacked by dogs a couple times and it ain't no fun.
