As others have said, Smith & Wessson mod. 10 (.38 spcl). It is rock solid and extremely reliable. Nothing fancy, just simplicity at it's best.

However, if it was me, I would spend a few more bucks and step it up a notch. Get yourself a S&W Mod. 19.
It handles .38 specials and .357 magnum ammo. Very accurate and reliable as well and an all around perfect revolver for anybody, no matter what their experience.
