Nuts! I've stuffed up to 20.5 of 296 under W-W and Hornady JHPs and never got more than 1450 out of a 6-inch *&*. At 80 to 100 degrees!

Even allowing for the fact that I have fired other loads in another revolver and it gives higher pressures and about 100 fps more than mine does, getting 1800+ looks unattainable for me...

I've always wondered why no 296 loads have been developed for the .40 slick&willie. The operating pressure is only 5,000 psi less than .357, IIRC.
