wow - lot of cool responses

first I'd like to thanks everyone for their input - still trying to hone my decision - but thanks to several individuals are leaning towards either the 6.5 grendel or the 6.5-45mm (aka SSK industries 6.5 MPC)

(not trying to plug SSK)

the only reason im limiting to these is both appear to work good with 120gn bullets, both are smaller and will get complete ignition with a shorter say 16" barrel, both can be built in a AR upper.

Im going for an ultra light 'pack' rifle - some suggested the:

1) keltec su-16 (thanks to Big-Foot on the rebarreling article)
2) Browning A-Bolt Mountain Ti
3) Kimber Montana
4) CZ-527
5) mini-mauser (?)
6) Ruger Compact SS (?)
7) TC encore rifle
8) TC contender carbine
9) AR-15 (if i can find a way to make it very light)

anyone want to add to the list of light guns these would be optimal in - and if anyone knows if any are offered or if after-market folding stock will work on them that would be great. basically looking for light and portable, and as my orig post stated liek the way the keltec folds up - certainly not a tack-driver, but would make a good pack gun for deer and such. an AR would be optimal but most ARs start a pound or more heavier, and dont fold up to fit in a backpack like the keltec.

The semi-auto factor is pretty cool and im leaning towards keltec - however as others have pointed out that the grendel has a fatter case and any "re-barrel" would have to be carefully done as the base of the SU-16 barrel is only 13/16 inch diameter and the larger the case, the less meat at the chamber (dont want a KB)!

Hence the leaning towards the 6.5 MPC (6.5x223) for the primary option on this rifle

su-16 trigger work will also be needed...

But perhaps this is all too much and there is a simpler solution that ive overlooked... thoughts... anyone?
