Loading a Mossberg 930

Just got one today and tore it down to familiarize myself with it. Reassembled and ran a function check, and all is well. Maybe I'm imagining, but when I lock the bolt to the rear and hit the bolt release, it doesn't slam forward with as much force as I think I remember it doing before I tore it down. Also, when I load it, the bolt is forward as the manual says, and I load the shells into the tube. When I pull back on the charging handle to load the first round, it doesn't stay back like when it's empty. It cycles it forward on it's own. Is this normal? The owners manual does not specify.
