That gets it down to only 5 states now that allow rifles, but do not allow the 223 for deer. There will stll be the guys posting advice saying "223 is not allowed in most places for deer hunting", anytime the topic comes up. With modern bullets there is no reason not to. The Barnes TTSX is also proving to work very well. I'd be content with any 60+gr expanding bullet.
