A Remington 700 Mountain rifle(introduced in 2012, depending on who you ask, at $1100.) weighs 6.2 pounds. A 150 at 2910 FPS has 17.9 ft-lbs of recoil out of an 8 pound rifle. Pachmayr sells a slip on recoil pad that adds about an inch of LOP but works really well. Isn't stupid expensive either.
