I have decided to replace the beat up non-original stock on my faithful M1 Garand. I have a nice new walnut stock but it came without the metal parts. Though I've shot M1s for many years, I have never removed and perlaced the metal parts on the stock except the butt plate. My manual does not cover this. Can anyone tell ne how to proceed carefully? I don't want to mar any pf these parts.
