In 1983 when I was looking for a "cheap" 44 Magnum, the Superblack Hawk was the lowest price alternative. 1982 or 1983 was the first year a stainless version was available.

I purchased it at Les's Gunshop in Texarkana. Fun place, good ole boys, hope it is open.

Over the years, it still has been a cost effective, and excellent revolver.

I would also look at what Taurus has. They sell a close copy of the M629.

I had a FIE Hombre, a German made SAA clone, in 44 Magnum. Shooting a full power 44 Magnum in that light thing was like having a bomb go off in your hand. It absolutely hurt.

I traded that in, plus boot, for a 45 LC M25-7. Life is much better.
