I, on the other hand, am one of the Taurus haters. I've never owned one, but I've worked on them in the shop at the range where I shoot. You might get lucky and get one that works, but you're gambling and the odds are heavily against you.
For the same money you can but a Ruger, and for less you can buy a Rock Island, a Metro Arms American Classic, or a Shooter's Arms 1911. Any of those will be light years ahead of a Taurus.
