I've used cheap Bushnell aluminum and steel Weaver rings wearing out several 30 caliber magnum barrels on long range target rifles and had no problems.

Note aluminum scope tubes are more susceptible to problems than super duty steel rings and bases. Their ends whip and wiggle just like barrels when rifles fire.
