If, by "best range gun in 9mm" you mean which one fits you to a tee, but is too heavy for day to day carry, then I'd say my Colt Series 70 1911 with its 5" barrel...accurate, reliable, fits beautifully, but is too big for carry and the caliber could be better housed in a smaller frame...like a Lt Colt Commander in 9mm...Series 70 of course.
