Why are they so heavy?

The Ruger PC9 weighed 6.4 lbs

The HK USC weighs 6 lbs without the magazine...

The Marlin Camp Carbine weighed 6.75 lbs and it had a solid wood stock.

I do like the looks of the Taurus...

I don't care for the ARs chambered for handgun calibers. I didn't care for the Beretta which only weighs 5.68 lb BTW. I don't care for the looks of the Hi-Point but even the Hi-Point only weighs 6.25 lbs.

Four extra pounds doesn't seem like that much, but you have to figure it does cut down on it's utility for situations where you have to decide if you want to lug it with you on a long hike or something.

Why does it weigh so much?
