I have been shooting handguns for years, but have been interested in
adding a 12ga shotgun to my collection.

I am an adult of average size and height, but I can't help but think
of the tales of high recoil.

If I want to start in a safe fashion, would you recommend a lesson the 1st time out, or would a chat with the guys at the gun shop, reading the manual and some browsing of this forum prove adequate?
