I once owned a Smith & Wesson Model 10, blued .38 special, with an underlugged barrel. I don't remember what dash- it was, though. It was made exactly like the Model 65LS that was being sold at the time. Supposedly it was one of those production overrun versions that was made for some police force in another country. It was unusual and one of two or three dozen guns I should have kept.

I also had another S&W revolver that had, I think it was, a 4 1/4" barrel, presumably intentionally. It was either a Model 10, 64 or 65. Don't remember which. These were all over ten years.
