I don't know about SP bullets not being accurate, I shoot a lot of Sierra SP bullets and have great accuracy. The tip isn't going to be melted away by shooting a bullet, there isn't enough friction to do that going down the barrel. Great accuracy has been achieved by lead cast bullets, that don't even have copper jackets, so I wouldn't worry about melting.

The tips might get a little deformed in the magazine due to recoil but if you are at the range just load single shot, hunting it will not throw off the POI enough to make any difference. Protected point and polymer tips prevent the deformation that takes place sometimes in the magazines. Personally I think you should try different ammunition and see what works, you might find a regular SP bullet will give you the best accuracy, just because it was a little more expensive doesn't mean it will shoot better in your rifle.
