You can buy a 500 field gun (26 inch barrel with accu choke threads) with nice lookin' wood stocks for WAYYY under $350. Then buy you a 18 inch barrel for around a hundred. Now you have a choice of keep the long barrel for hunting or sports and the short for HD setup. Or you can sell the NEW 26 inch for near a hundred.
The reason I suggest this is that a short barreled 500 in simple plastic is nearly a hundred bucks more than a field gun for no other reason than the supply and demand thing and the gullability of the "tacky-cool" crowd of buyers.
Heck, I often see the field and short combo for the $350 of a short barreled gun.
