I've owned a few of the Compact models, 9mm and 45ACP. To me it's a benchmark in terms of reliability and build quality. That said it is very '80s to me, in that it's somewhat bulky with very large controls. It's not nearly as ergonomic as some of the newer designs. That said I think it would serve you well.

If you do decide you'd like the trigger to be a bit better, you might try a Match Trigger kit. As a bit of shameless self promotion, I actually have one I've been trying to sell for a bit that I'd sell for say 50% of original cost, PM if interested . I used it for about 200 rds before I had to sell the pistol and I took the kit out (I have a new sear spring to go with it as that part is hard to uninstall and reinstall without some wear).
