Quote:
Our main agenda is to have ALL guns banned. We must use whatever means possible. It doesn't matter if you have to distort facts or even lie. Our task of creating a socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed."-- HCI President Sarah Brady to Senator Howard Metzenbaum, The National Educator, January 1994, p.3

Here is the one that sticks out the most- some people just either didn't get the Constitution when they studied it as a youngster, or decided immediately they hated it. Too bad they didn't move out right then. The word 'socialist' fits very well with what is going on present day when it comes to their attitude towards the right to own a firearm by law-abiding citizens. No guns = total control = socialism.

Quote:
SARAH BRADY

Sarah Brady gets bashed by pro-gun rights people for repeatedly changing her stories, downplaying her real agenda, and outright lying. All of these flaws are fair game, but claiming she said something didn’t will not help our cause, and could actually hurt our efforts.

The following quote was probably aimed at reaching veterans and other Americans concerned about our great country’s move toward either Communism and Socialism. The falsehood reads:

Our task of creating a socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed.

This phony quote is often cited as a statement from Sarah Brady, Chairman, HCI, to Howard Metzenbaum, The National Educator, January, 1994, Page 3. "Sarah" and "Metzenbaum" are sometimes misspelled as "Sara" and "Metzanbaum" on the Internet.

There are several problems with this quote, including the fact that the common citation does not check out. In addition, Sarah Brady would usually be considered a conservative Republican on most politic issues besides firearms, and therefore not likely to embrace much more of the Socialist agenda than gun control.

That one caught me as well... as in say what!? So just poked around to find it and came across this site.

I could spend days gathering all the anti-gun statements spouted on a regular basis here in Chicago and make a serious dent in bandwith at this site by posting them.
Mayor Dick is famous for some... one of my favorites.
“Does this lead to everyone having a gun in our society?” he said at a news conference. “If they think that’s the answer, then they’re greatly mistaken. Then, why don’t we do away with the court system and go back to the Old West? You have a gun and I have a gun and we’ll settle in the streets."
In view of all the gang shootings that happen here, is it just me or is there some irony to had there?

When Daley spoke urging legislators to close the gun show loophole and limit handgun purchases to one a month......
"It is far too easy to obtain a gun in our society," he said. Noting that four out of five murders in Chicago are committed with firearms, he added, "If we expect to reduce the amount of violent crime in our society, we have to make it more difficult for criminals to obtain guns."
More irony eh? Damn criminals just keep ignoring them there laws, we need to make MORE!!!

Alderman here in the city are not only allowed to possess handguns but they are allowed to conceal carry them. When Alderman Richard Mell "accidently" let his registration lapse, blaming it on an aide, instead of following the law which meant that gun was no longer registerable and had to be disposed of, turned in or be removed from the city Mell drafted a proposal to allow amnesty for reregistration of that handgun. Of course this amnesty was only offered to those whose guns became illegal in that exact to the minute time frame that Mell's did. Daley and the rest of the armed alderman approved the proposal and Dick says....
".....well afterall, we don't want to take anyones gun away."
Okay, so maybe that didn't qualify as a anti-gun statement, I fell back into the irony trap.

I could go on and on, but why, you get the point. Since it's Mr. Short's thread I will let me decide if HE would like to hear more from the Chicago gang.

EDIT: Sorry my slow typing let somebody else post about Sarah Brady's statement, wasn't trying to be a parrot.
