Given your statement of two groups that are each one foot of center, I'd bet on optical displacement of some sort. You might be cross dominant (right handed but left eyed or vice versa) or your eye protection could be causing it. By any chance, are you using cheap eye pro? Are the lenses highly curved? These are just guesses but both are logical explanations for what your situation.
