do bowling alleys charge you anything for the pins, or are they free?
Some of the smaller bowling alleys in the smaller towns may give away the old used pins, the larger bowling alleys send their used pins out to be reconditioned, then sell the pins to the smaller alleys.

At one time when I was a competitive pin shooter, shooting the larger matches around the USA I had over 1000 practice pins in my barn.
When the larger pin matches ceased to exist I still had over 600 pins in my barn.
I sold most of them to a pistol club putting on club matches, sold some to a lady that paints on them.

I still have a regulation steel pin table on my shooting range.
The table is made out of half inch plate steel and weighs 1020 pounds.

Pin shooting was my first love in competition shooting, if the big pin matches were still taking place I would most likely still be shooting them today.
