Montana is so big and the landscape so different in different parts of the state, that it varies by area.

In the NE part where I grew up, whitetail and pheasant were easily the most popular.

I know that antelope are popular in the SE corner.

As far as where I live now, in the SW part of the state in the mountains, elk is easily the most popular from what I can gather. Probably the same up in the NW corner.

People also hunt mule deer, turkey, black bear, moose, ducks, geese, sharptail grouse, chuckar, and just about anything else that lives in the state.
