If your shotgun was built for the light contour barrel and you put a thicker standard barrel on it you might have problems with the foreend rubbing on the barrel. Going from a standard barrel down to the thinner light contour will be no problem. This is probably more of an issue on the 11-87 than the 870 since the 870's have more clearance on the foreend anyway.
