I've been a police officer since I left the Army in 2000. But it's been my general experience on this forum any a few others that I frequent (THR, S&W) that police and even EMT's and Fire tend to be held in a lower regard than the military.
Think about all the threads over the years talking about how cops are bad shots, brutal, bullies, ect. ect. I doubt you'll see a thread like this one regarding cops because it would be taken over by the cop haters. Which isn't surprising given the fact that law enforcement is internal and enforces civil law. Civil law involves gun control and we know how popular that is.
The military deals with external threats and many hold vets in higher regard. So it goes.
