My personal experience with Win 231 and Berry's 185 HBRN:

5.7 grains is my "steel" load: the lightest load that will reliably cycle the action. It has very little recoil.

6.8 grains puts me right at 900 fps in a 5" barrel, which makes major power factor. This load is considerably louder and has more recoil and flash. Primers are starting to flatten. This would be a max load, approach it with caution.

Now that I have used up the 185's, I'm going to use 230's to make major. The 185's are best for light loads.
