No real guidelines for me. I just try to keep enough for 3-4 months of shooting if I were suddenly unable to get more ammo. Although right now I am low on finished cartridges as I recently started reloading, so I've got components a plenty, but not as many finished cartridges as I tend to just make what I need for the week.
