Bimmerland its gonna be tough to best that p228 at that price range. Bear with me, different perspective. Can you shoot the same group, ie 4 inches at 25 yards? If not, then the next route is to modify sights and try match 9mm ammo, and more practice. All your current guns will shoot 4in or better at 25yds.
If you do not like the thickness of the p228, I would recommend the p225
