I use a TAPER CRIMP, which is nothing more than the sizer die without the decapping stem, on all my handguns.
If you trim your handgun/44 cases then a roll crimp will woork well. I DO NOT TRIM my handgun cases and with a taper crimp, it doesn't matter.
