I think he means that the Rossi's are shipped to the USA with longer barrels attached and then cut/replaced to 2" at the Taurus USA factory, getting around the "sporting purpose" clause of BATFE.

Actually, I like the idea of a medium-frame .44Mag. I wish Ruger had done this on a GP-100 frame as the Alaskan than what they do now. That said, I'd consider the Rossi a good-sized .44Spl that can use .44Mag in dire emergencies.
