I'm not going to say the 1400 is great as it is cheaply made. I was given a 20ga 1400 for my son to learn with. It has functioned quite reliably with Rem 7-1/2 shot hunting ammo. It does not like the Kent steel ammo that was given to me with the gun. I will say it's the softest shooting 20ga I've ever shot which made it great for my son to learn with. I also have a 12ga Mossberg bolt that was given to me & I can't stand to use.
