I can say this is how I would handle it.

Order a Lee Collet Neck Sizing Die

Load said short brass and shoot it. (While waiting on collet die to arrive.) After shooting measure it. If still under the trim to length then when the collet die arrives load, and shoot brass till it either splits at the case mouth, or needs to be trimmed. Paper clip test each case for any signs of head seperation.

I do not care about length for rounds in my bolt gun as long as they are not at too long. I do not crimp so I am not real worried. My accuracy with my rifle is under three quarters MOA on an awful day. Usualy more like quarter to half MOA if I am doing my part correctly.
