Think I had a lucky escape. You agree?
Yes, I am still banging on about the CZ75 Compact that I saw used for a good price.
I went back to look at it a third, and I think last, time.
This time I was armed with a bag full of cleaning products: I wanted to get a closer look at the barrel which had concerned me, somewhat, before.
I looked in it and it looked shotgun smooth: almost no discernible rifling. I sloshed some Hoppe's in it, and after 5 mins, I brass-brushed it vigourously.
Finally, the rifling became visible. It looked OK.
However, I saw that the bore had a hazy look. If I look at any of my rifled guns, then the bore surface is mirror shiny. Not so with this CZ: my guess is that the bore had been rusty at one stage and that the surface had then been damaged as a result.
A guy I know in a gun shop felt that it must have been a high usage example and that I was wise to walk away.
Based on what you've read, do you agree?
