If your gunsmith doesn’t understand it (progressive or gain twist) you need to find another Smith. I would not be surprised to learn that Bobby Hoyt could do this work and do it to match the cylinder you have.

I’ll look closely at my Shooters Model an see if I can determine the rate of Change from straight to 1 in 18 over an eight inch barrel...
