Answer to the OPs question = YES
The election of 2008 fathered a buying, hoarding frenzy unseen since the Clinton era. It took 6 months before the market caught up with demand.
Essentially, we have the same problem. I have no doubt the market will recover providing congress protects our individual freedoms.
