Commercial Folders make practical sense. By the way you should try the new Emerson produced CQC7. Ernie has made great improvements since taking over production from "Bench Made". Actually most of the commercial folders are decent. Customs are too expensive and offer little if any advantage over a quality commercial piece provided a liner lock blade locking system is employed.

The knife should be readily accessible with tactical gear use. Easily accessed frontal positions make the most sense. I like the thigh strap position myself as does Chalker. When I was wearing load bearing gear, I liked the weak side shoulder position, inverted carry, for my K-Bar.
